Programs
Beyond the core curriculum at other FCPS high schools, FCPS says Skyview offers three pathways: Aerospace Science, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. The building includes libraries, study rooms, fine arts spaces and athletic facilities. Ask the school how the pathways work for each grade.
How the name and school came about
The School Board approved the name Skyview in February 2026 after community meetings, surveys and public hearings. FCPS says students made up most survey participants and named Skyview their top choice. Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid said the name reflects the opportunities the district wants for students preparing for careers that do not exist yet.
Boundaries and enrollment: what has been approved
For 2026-27, FCPS said limited space was available for rising ninth and tenth graders from the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes and Westfield pyramids. On July 16, 2026, the School Board approved permanent boundaries, reported by FFXnow:
- The boundary takes effect in 2027-28, and ninth graders may opt out in favor of their former high school.
- By 2028-29, ninth graders inside Skyview’s boundary can no longer opt out.
- Students who use the FCPS transfer policy instead will no longer be eligible for bus transportation.
- FCPS estimated 1,606 students at Skyview by 2028-29. The plan moves students from Westfield, South Lakes and Chantilly. Oakton’s boundaries are unchanged.

Which homes go to Skyview? Check by address
Living near a school does not mean a home is assigned to it. Assignments follow FCPS attendance boundaries, not ZIP codes, street names or distance. With new boundaries phasing in, the address-level answer matters even more. Before you make an offer, enter the exact address in the FCPS Boundary Locator and confirm the effective year with the school. We can run it with you.
