AARP members often ask us about the AARP real estate program. Here is how it works, what it is worth, and what to check before you sign up.

What the AARP Real Estate Program Is

It is called AARP Real Estate Benefits by Anywhere. AARP does not run it. Anywhere Real Estate pays AARP a royalty to offer it to members, and Anywhere provides the benefit.

What Members Get

  • A benefit of $300 to $7,200, based on the purchase or sale price of the home.
  • No sign-up fee.
  • Paid as cash, a gift card or a commission reduction, depending on your state.
  • Enrollment online or by phone with your AARP membership number.

Which Agents Take Part

The benefit only applies when you buy or sell through a participating agent. AARP lists these brands: Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Corcoran and ERA.

Keller Williams is not on that list, so we do not offer the AARP benefit. We want you to hear that from us up front.

Fine Print to Know

  • It does not cover employer-sponsored relocations, and many new construction, For Sale by Owner and iBuyer deals are excluded.
  • Some states get a gift card or commission reduction instead of cash.
  • Commissions are negotiable, and terms can change without notice.
  • AARP does not employ or endorse the agents. They are not AARP agents.

How to Decide

A cash benefit is nice, but it is only one part of the picture. Before you choose an agent, compare:

  • The agent’s experience in your local market.
  • The marketing and pricing plan for your home.
  • Total cost after commission, any benefit and closing costs.
  • How well the agent communicates and negotiates.

Always confirm current terms on AARP’s program page before you rely on any number.
